Dr. Gordon MacGregor

Dr. Gordon G. MacGregor was awarded his PhD in Physiology from the Department of Child Health at The University of Dundee in Scotland in 1997. He completed his postdoctoral training in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Physiology at Yale University Medical School. He then joined the faculty at the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2010. Dr. MacGregor is currently Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine.

 

Dr. MacGregor focuses his research on fluid and electrolyte transport in the kidney, gastrointestinal tract and sweat ducts. He is specifically interested in understanding electrolyte abnormalities caused by diarrhea and excessive sweating from hot yoga. Dr. MacGregor is also studying the mechanism of altered cognitive and behavioral issues observed in tyrosinemia type I.

 

Dr. MacGregor has published 25 peer-reviewed manuscripts and one book chapter.
